Captain Phil Harris, dead at 53

image

Woke up to this today and it really bummed me out. Had been praying that Phil would recover from his
stroke but I guess that wasn't in God's plans for him.

The Deadliest Catch is a terrific show and a huge reason why is Captain Phil. He was just a straight up down to earth guy and I loved watching the interaction between him and his sons.

RIP Phil...You will be missed by a lot of people including me and my family

"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end," sons Josh and Jake Harris said in a statement released by the network. "For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down."
In a statement, Discovery Channel senior vice president Elizabeth Hillman says, "Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him." "We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart," she said.

I've always been a huge fan due in no small part to my parents playing his records from the day I was born. Even watched his Aloha from Hawaii TV special when I was 5. I really like almost all of his music but my favorite I think will always be…
